Diabetes care evolves rapidly, and South African healthcare professionals require agile, evidence-informed learning environments that mirror the complexity of real-world practice.

Grounded in the principles of adult learning, the offering values the experience, insight, and self-direction that participants bring. Each session promotes active engagement, critical reflection and specifically the opportunity to translate learning directly into improved practice.

A central feature of “New Directions in Care” is its inclusive learning philosophy. We acknowledge that healthcare is delivered by diverse, interdependent teams and that high-quality diabetes care relies on the strengths of multiple disciplines.

In line with the mandates and ethos of the CDE Academy, the initiative embraces an inter-professional approach, welcoming doctors, pharmacists, dietitians, specialist nurse educators and other allied health professionals into a shared learning space. This approach strengthens communication and enhances role clarity.

Each session incorporates real-world case studies, updated clinical evidence, ethical considerations and practical tools to support informed decision-making.
